Happy Spring? Well regardless of the weather spring is here and that means spring music activities. Here are the most current performance dates:
AMBASSADOR SCHEDULE:
Sunday March 30th – 8:30 am @ Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church
& 11:00am @ Immanuel Lutheran Church
Sunday April 13th – 10:00am @ Grace Lutheran Church
Tuesday, April 29th – Grace Spring Concert
SPRING MUSICAL: Tuesday, May 13th – “Three Trees”
We listened through the musical last week and have begun to learn the songs. Parts will be assigned this week and dialogue will be sent home for memory. Students interested in a lead role, solo, or speaking parts should speak with Mr. Jay.
Costumes: All students will be trees in the forest. Students will need brown pants and brown socks to wear on stage (the school has multi-colored t-shirts for students to wear). There will also be a group of lumberjacks & some marching toy soldiers. After parts are assigned we will work on those costumes.
Top ‘O the month to you! (Greetings & welcome to March)
It is amazing how fast this year is zooming by and how rapidly the end of the year (and concerts) are approaching. Since the last time I checked in 4th & 5th grade have learned beginning guitar and lower grades have begun Hand Chimes. Ambassadors are preparing to sing at area churches during lent and the bands are preparing for their spring concerts. We will also be starting on our K-3 spring musical in the next few weeks (Three Trees), learning songs and picking parts.
Here are a few grade related details:
GRADES 1-3:
Grades 1-3 are learning how to play Hand Chimes. This involves note recognition, rhythm reading, hand chime handling, and playing as an ensemble. Grades will take turns playing for chapel beginning in a few weeks.
GRADES 4-5:
Grades 4-5 just finished a three-week unit on playing the guitar, which involved guitar care, tuning, basic chords, and how to read chord charts and “Tab”. Students enjoyed the unit so much that they have requested we do another guitar session in the spring. Both grades are currently putting our Boomwhackers to full use, playing songs that involve both the Treble AND Bass Clef! Watch for announcements of chapel performances as well.
AMBASSADOR CHOIR:

BEGINNING BAND:
Beginning is preparing for our spring concert on April 29th. Songs include Trash Cancerto, Furioso, and Louie Louie. Hopefully you are hearing these practiced. Students should be continuing to play a minimum of 15 – 20 min a day, 5 days a week in their books and on band music. Playing at home is the biggest factor in students being successful at their instrument and having a rewarding band experience. Keep tooting!
ADVANCED BAND:
Advanced Band is also preparing for our spring concert on April 29th. Songs include Rites of Tambour, Electricity, and Blues at Frog Bottom. Hopefully you are hearing these practiced. Students should be continuing to play a minimum of 15 – 20 min a day, 5 days a week in their books and on band music. Playing at home is the biggest factor in students being successful at their instrument and having a rewarding band experience. Keep tooting!
